Tattoo Aftercare
To ensure your tattoo heals without complications, follow these guidelines:
- First Days (with the protective film)
Leave the protective film on the tattoo for 2-3 days. If the film gets dirty or if fluids (plasma, excess pigment) accumulate under it in larger quantities ("black bubbles"), remove the film by pulling it off, preferably when dry (you can also do it after a shower).
- After Removing the Film
Gently wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and antibacterial soap, dry with a clean towel or paper towel (without rubbing, only by patting). Start regularly applying a special tattoo care cream (e.g., creams from our studio, Bepanthen Tattoo, hemp ointment). DO NOT use these creams: Indulona, Nivea, etc. Tattoos will not heal nicely with these creams, and color may fall out.
- Daily Care
Apply and then massage the tattoo with the cream 2x a day as needed to keep the skin hydrated, but do not overdo it with too thick a layer of cream! Avoid touching the tattoo with dirty hands and protect it from dirt. Increased fluid intake and a healthy lifestyle help the body cope better with the healing process, ensuring the tattoo heals perfectly.
- Avoid:
Direct sunlight – protect the tattoo with clothing or a high SPF cream (after healing).
Visiting wellness areas (saunas, hot tubs, pools, tanning beds).
Long baths in water, especially natural (ponds), chlorinated (pools), and hot tubs. Showering is fine, but avoid hot water jets on the tattoo.
Consuming alcoholic beverages for 24 hours after completing the tattoo. Limit their consumption during the healing process as well.
- Healing Process
The tattoo may itch or develop scabs – do not scratch or pick them off! The average healing time for scabs is 7-14 days. Complete healing takes approximately 3-4 weeks.
If any signs of infection appear (excessive redness, pus, swelling), immediately contact your tattoo artist first.
Please note that over time, UV exposure, and skin aging, the tattoo may undergo certain changes. Therefore, care for the tattoo by regularly using skin creams containing vitamin E and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
By following these guidelines, you will ensure that your tattoo looks great for many years!
